Responsibilities

Performs IT infrastructure architecting, deployment, and maintenance for public cloud technologies using an infrastructure-as-code approach
Collaborates with stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into system requirements; formulates new solutions or enhancements to existing systems employing public cloud technologies
Acts as a lead technical resource for project requirements gathering with independent analysis and formulation of solutions
Independently designs, develops, tests, deploys, and maintains systems using software development lifecycle best practices to ensure high quality solutions
Documents software design, development, and deployment processes
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for the role

Required

Highschool Diploma or GED required
Minimum of 6-8 years experience required
CompTIA Security+ Certification
Experience in cloud computing concepts and tools for public cloud platforms, preferably with experience using an infrastructure-as-code approach such as Terraform for Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure
Proficient in working with Linux/Unix operating systems, and experience with containerization technologies like Docker
Proficient in DevOps tools, including but not limited to version control with Git, remote repository solutions such as GitHub or BitBucket, and automated build tools such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins
Experience with or willingness to learn Python or R for data analysis applications
Must be willing to acquire domain specific knowledge and understand the technical aspects of research projects, preferably with a primary focus on scientific computing or bioinformatics
Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner using both written documentation and oral presentations
US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a T3/Secret Clearance
Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods

Preferred

Vocational or technical degree/Bachelor's degree preferred
Vendor training/certification preferred (e.g. Google Cloud Professional certifications, AWS Professional certifications, etc.) but not required
Remote. Please note, the preferred candidate will reside in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) metropolitan area
