Responsibilities

Offer support and supervision in environmental health and occupational safety across various assigned companies
Collaborate with leadership within operating companies to enhance safety strategies, refine processes, and boost operational performance while guaranteeing adherence to relevant policies and regulations
Provide assistance and oversight in related areas such as fleet management, environmental compliance, business continuity, development of local safety staff, improvements in operational processes, sustainability initiatives, and physical security as required
Contribute to the formulation, planning, and execution of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) and associated policies and procedures for a group of 5 to 10 companies, employing a total workforce ranging from 3,000 to 6,000 individuals
Keep track of the assigned companies to confirm their compliance with internal policies and federal, state, and local workplace regulations
Ensure that all safety documentation and essential recordkeeping practices are correctly maintained
Support EHS leadership at operating companies with the analysis, development, and execution of action plans
Identify hazards and propose recommendations for incident prevention to the leadership of operating companies
Provide guidance and support in investigating injuries or incidents for the assigned operating companies
Monitor and assist with the implementation of relevant safety, quality, productivity, fleet management, or other initiatives within the company
Review incident reports for accuracy and completeness, aiding the identification and execution of necessary corrective measures at the assigned companies
Facilitate collaboration between other departments or functions and their corresponding operating companies as needed
Engage in special projects that may evolve based on requirements
Participate in programs focused on leadership, aligned with Safety, Quality, and Productivity (SQP) objectives and resources, to engage with designated companies
Assist in evaluating, delivering, and following up on safety and productivity reviews in the workplace
Help identify and share effective work practices, productivity benefits, innovations, and other methods that can enhance business operations
Aid in the integration of new acquisitions as necessary and immerse in designated companies or divisions to support the implementation of SQP-related changes alongside other assigned SQP Safety Directors
Significant travel will be required, estimated at 60 to 80 percent

Required

Solid background in electrical work
At least four years of leadership experience focused on minimizing risks in a fast-paced, hazardous, and labor-centric sector
Strong understanding of, or the ability to learn, local, state, and federal regulations concerning environmental health and safety in both construction and general industry settings
Solid grasp of business processes within construction, industrial, or service sectors
Excellent interpersonal, management, communication, writing, and organizational abilities
Proven track record of functioning independently with minimal supervision
Experience in effective virtual communication through platforms like MS Teams, Webex, or Zoom

Preferred

Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.) or relevant trade experience
Holding BCSP certifications, such as ASP, CSP, STS-C, or CHST
Experience in electrical contracting or utility operations
Potential areas of experience include mechanical or electrical construction, mobile mechanical services, industrial maintenance or construction, site-based facilities services, or related trades like electricians, plumbers, pipefitters, sheet metal workers, and HVAC maintenance
