Principal Architect
Stelvio Inc. is working with a client in the intelligent transportation systems and mobility technology space, delivering software-driven platforms for transportation solutions. The Principal Architect provides technical and architectural leadership, ensuring scalable and robust solutions while mentoring engineers and influencing development standards.
Responsibilities
Provide technical guidance and instruction to both junior and senior engineering staff
Support resolution of complex technical issues across multiple domains
Influence and help define development practices, tools, technologies, and methodologies
Plan and oversee project-related activities within agreed resource constraints
Lead the definition and evolution of the organisation’s architectural vision
Ensure engineering teams follow established architectural standards and best practices
Mentor engineers on architectural concepts, design principles, and patterns
Work with stakeholders to translate business requirements into architectural solutions
Design scalable and resilient architectures for complex systems
Conduct architectural reviews to ensure alignment with business and technology goals
Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and evolving best practices
Assess tools and technologies and recommend adoption based on value and impact
Partner with cross-functional teams including engineering, product, and business stakeholders
Work with technical leads and project managers to define scope, timelines, and resource needs
Establish and maintain architectural standards to support quality and maintainability
Review code and designs, providing constructive feedback to uphold engineering standards
Perform other related duties as required
Qualification
Required
Strong communication skills with the ability to report clearly to executive leadership
Ability to contribute to business development activities, including written content, pricing exercises, and demonstrations
Proven capability to coach and develop less experienced software engineers
Strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex technical challenges
Experience leading projects using established project management methodologies
Advanced reasoning and problem-solving skills to evaluate alternative solutions
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline
10+ years of progressively responsible experience in a relevant technical role
Ability to work for extended periods at a desk using a computer
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as required
Minimal travel expected
