Systems Engineer II-III (Full-Time, On-Site)
S3I Engineering provides specialty engineering services, systems integration, and operational support to US Government agencies. They are seeking a Senior or Principal Systems Engineer to support a new DoD operational capability, focusing on testing capabilities, optimizing performance, and improving reliability.
Computer Software
Responsibilities
Support in government labs and aircraft platforms to identify problems, provide solutions and communicate with the software development team
Performing independent investigation to reproduce problems reported in fielded systems
Participating in design reviews and providing input on requirements derivation
Working directly with government personnel and other partners to provide actionable solutions
Working with various industry partner teams to troubleshoot, investigate, and isolate complex problems
Working to continually validate and identify gaps in testing methodology
Configuring test bench systems to test software requirements
Providing validation of the findings of root cause analysis and offering solutions
Leading, training, and refining software test events
Preparing field test reports and reviewing and summarizing findings
Providing technical guidance to peers
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science Degree, or equivalent years of experience, in Engineering or other technical fields such as Computer Science, Computer Hardware, Mathematics, or Physics
This work requires a DOD Secret clearance. Candidates must meet the criteria to obtain one
Strong computer hardware and software troubleshooting experience using the Linux command line
Experience building operational Linux computer systems in a secured defense environment
The ability to reverse engineer complex systems to aid in testing and diagnostics
Familiarity with both DoD and DCSA cybersecurity practices
General understanding of DoD sensor systems including EO/IR and RADAR
Familiarity with the mission system on one or more DoD platforms
Experience with cloud platforms, including DoD IL5 environments and higher
Outstanding organizational skills in a complex and dynamic environment
Highly articulate communications skills when describing complex software behavior and function
The ability to coach junior team members
Strong understanding of computing first principles
Demonstrated ability to break apart large and complex problems into smaller parts and delegate
Positive and professional attitude when working to solve customer problems
US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance is required
Must be able to lift and carry ~40 Lbs
Must be able to maneuver in confined spaces
Must be able to access various government location, facilities, and vessels
Must have reliable transportation to travel between office and government facilities
Preferred
Previous Minotaur experience strongly desired
Software development experience in a Linux environment
Familiarity with software configuration management tools such as Git or even IBM Rational Clearcase
Demonstrated strong software troubleshooting skills
Knowledge of DoD mission systems, sensors, and networks
