The Grossing Technician is responsible for the accurate gross examination, dissection, and description of surgical specimens under the supervision of a Pathologist, ensuring compliance with laboratory standards, regulatory requirements, and patient safety protocols.

Responsibilities
Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens following established protocols
Accurately describe specimens, select appropriate tissue sections, and document findings in the laboratory information system (LIS)
Ensure proper specimen identification, labeling, and chain of custody
Follow CAP, CLIA, OSHA, and laboratory-specific regulatory standards
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe grossing workspace
Assist with specimen triage and prioritization to meet turnaround time goals
Communicate effectively with pathologists, histotechnologists, and laboratory staff
Adhere to infection control and safety procedures, including proper use of PPE
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Medical Laboratory Science, Anatomy, or a related life science field
Knowledge of human anatomy and pathology terminology
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced laboratory environment
Proficiency with laboratory information systems and basic computer skills
Preferred
Previous experience in surgical pathology or grossing preferred
