Responsibilities

Partner with the CEO to design, implement, and refine a comprehensive fundraising and business development strategy aligned with TA’s strategic plan and annual revenue targets

Personally manage select fundraising/business development activities and donor/funder relationships

Support the CEO in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding key institutional funders, individual donors, and prospective fiscally sponsored partners

Collaborate with appropriate members of the TA team to develop compelling cases for support, impact reports, and proposal materials

Provide regular revenue projections, campaign progress reports, and strategic recommendations to the CEO and senior leadership

Build, supervise, mentor, and support a small but growing team that will include the following: Campaign Manager, Donor Organizer, Salesforce Systems manager, and consultants to achieve campaign goals and meet fundraising targets

Manage staff who are part of Tides Advocacy’s unionized workforce in a manner consistent with our collective bargaining agreement, our organizational values, and our commitment to collaboration, equity, and mutual respect

Work with the CEO and Leadership Team to cultivate a culture of business development across Tides Advocacy, where every department sees itself as part of the organization’s sustainability and power-building strategy. This includes building shared understanding of how new partnerships, fiscally sponsored projects, and revenue streams strengthen our collective capacity to defend democracy, resource movements, and expand political power

Contribute to a collaborative, values-aligned culture that emphasizes creativity, accountability, and results

Oversee the execution of the Power of Us campaign, ensuring its growth as a vehicle for 501(c)(4) giving and donor education

Guide the Healthy Democracy Action Fund donor strategy, including outreach, solicitation, and convening design

Support the CEO, Board, and leadership team in donor meetings, funder briefings, and fundraising events—drafting materials, preparing briefers, and managing follow-up

Lead the development and implementation of a donor stewardship plan that emphasizes transparency, impact, and shared values

Refine and manage the business development process for new fiscally sponsored partners, including developing outreach pipelines, assessing mission alignment, coordinating internal reviews, and supporting the successful onboarding of new partners

Partner with Finance and Legal, Risk, and Compliance (LRC) teams to ensure accurate tracking of gifts and compliance with 501(c)(4) fundraising regulations

Strengthen systems for donor data management, reporting, and analysis

Contribute to cross-departmental planning and budgeting, ensuring development activities are well integrated across the organization

Required

7-10 years of demonstrated success designing and advancing strategies that expand and diversify organizational revenue—through fundraising, partnerships, or other mission-aligned initiatives

Proven record of securing five- and six-figure gifts or agreements from individual, institutional, or allied partners

Strong management and coaching skills, with demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams

Excellent communication, storytelling, and relationship-building skills

Strong understanding of utilizing Salesforce as a tool to support fundraising and donor management

Commitment to Tides Advocacy's mission vision, and values, with a deep understanding of equity, justice, and power-building movements

Preferred

Experience developing or refining business development processes for fiscally sponsored projects or shared-service environments

Familiarity with donor organizing, giving circles, or campaign-based fundraising

Experience managing or working collaboratively with unionized staff, or demonstrated commitment to upholding collective bargaining agreements and values-aligned labor practices

Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving organization
