Engineer - Medium-Voltage Field Testing

Responsibilities

Assist with medium and high voltage field testing and commissioning
Set up, operate, and dismantle field test equipment, power supplies, grounding systems, and support hardware
Perform pre-test inspections, job briefings, and safety checks in accordance with UL procedures
Execute assigned test steps under the direction of senior engineers or lead technicians
Accurately collect, record, and document field test data and observations
Travel to customer sites and work flexible schedules based on testing windows and project needs
Maintain compliance with all safety, quality, and security requirements
Assist with test planning by reviewing drawings, specifications, and test procedures
Support equipment logistics, mobilization, and demobilization activities
Perform basic troubleshooting of test setups and field connections
Assist with preparation of field reports and technical summaries
Maintain test equipment, tools, and vehicles in safe working condition
Participate in training, cross-training, and continuous improvement initiatives
Interface professionally with clients, site personnel, and subcontractors

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical discipline
Basic understanding of electrical systems and safety principles
Willingness to perform hands-on field work in outdoor and industrial environments
Ability to travel regularly and work flexible schedules based on project needs
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
Ability to follow written procedures and verbal instructions
Effective communication skills for working with team members and clients
Valid driver's license
Ability to travel 75%+ to New Jersey

Preferred

Prior experience in electrical testing, utilities, substations, or power systems is preferred but not required
OSHA 10/30 or equivalent safety training preferred
