Responsibilities
Primary case responsibilities with increasing responsibility as the year progresses
Rotate primarily through Emergency and Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Oncology, and Surgery
Spend about 50% of the time on the emergency service and paired on overnight ER shifts with a senior clinician
Participate in case rounds twice daily led by the ECC team and other specialties
Engage in weekly didactic rounds including journal club, topic rounds, or wet labs
Complete appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans for common diseases
Interpret basic and advanced bloodwork
Demonstrate procedural competency in various techniques
Assist in surgical procedures such as enterotomy, gastrotomy, splenectomy, and others
Provide perioperative treatment of critical cases
Monitor advanced cases with telemetry and other methods
Achieve anesthesia competency
Qualification
Required
Experience with appropriate diagnostic and treatment plan for common diseases such as DKA, CKD, AKI, pneumonia, gastrointestinal diseases
Appropriate interpretation of basic and more advanced bloodwork
Procedural competency - abdomino- thoraco- and pericardio-centesis, chest tubes, NG tubes, nasal O2 lines
Surgical competency with assistance in procedures such as enterotomy, gastrotomy, splenectomy, pyometra, GDV
Perioperative treatment of critical cases
Advanced monitoring with telemetry, capnography, direct and indirect blood pressure
Exposure to ICU ventilation
Anesthesia competency
