MRI Assistant

Responsibilities

Demonstrated computer literacy
Greet and prescreen patient before entering MRI
Assist the patient with completing the screening form when needed
Escort patient to MRI and throughout the MRI visit
Provide dressing requirements and garments as necessary
Assist with transferring patients to MRI table or wheelchair
Set the coils for the procedure
Position the patient on the MRI table with the Technologist
Assists to remove the patient from the MRI table
Assist the Technologist with cleaning the table for the next patient
Enters charges in the EHR system (Modernized Medicine)
Adds notes onto radiology scanning system (Medstrat)
Scans the MRI Screening form into patients chart
Clerical duties include answering phones, accurate collection and documentation of information within the established guidelines
Manages and supports a full MRI schedule daily by:
Maintaining the MRI orders log in Mod Med
Contact and schedule patients post authorization
Make live reminder calls to avoid no shows or cancellations
Contact patients who no show to their appt and alerting the ordering provider
Clean and stock linen and medical supplies
Assist tech with ordering MRI supplies
Keep changing rooms and MRI suite tidy and organized
Work with a teamwork attitude focused on providing quality patient and family-centered care in a safe, efficient, effective and timely manner
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

High School diploma or equivalent
Must complete MRI Level two safety training within two weeks of being hired
Exceptional customer service and patient care skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to perform all responsibilities with diligence to established professional codes of conduct and ethics
Ability to interview and screen patients of all age groups related to safety issues with magnetic resonance imaging
Ability to establish and maintain a positive relationship with patients, physicians, and other MRI center staff
Knowledge of hazards involved in MRI work and precautions necessary in handling such hazards
Maintain and display knowledge and understanding of the importance of accurate and timely documentation of care
Ability to deal with stressful demands due to patient flow, emergencies and stat requests, and multiple interruptions
Valid CPR certification

Preferred

Medical Assistant experience preferred
