Responsibilities
Teach courses in business information and analytics, at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with a particular focus on techniques and tools used in data analysis
Demonstrate expertise and readiness to teach a variety of courses from the department's curriculum, which may include Foundations of Applied Business Analytics (UG), Data Mining, Visualization and Big Data for Business (UG), Business Analytics Data Models and Decision Making (MBA), Healthcare Analytics (MBA), Sports Analytics (MBA), Business Analytics and Financial Decision Making (DBA)
Engage in curriculum development and contribute to program assessment and student learning evaluation
Advise and mentor students in their academic and professional development
Engage in scholarship and professional development in communication, media, or related fields
Participate in service activities within the university and broader professional communities
Support and be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago, a university of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS)
Qualification
Required
Doctorate Degree in Analytics or closely related field (ABD candidates nearing completion may also be considered)
At least one year of teaching experience at the undergraduate level in communication or a closely related discipline
Demonstrated ability to teach courses in data management, visualization, and analysis with expertise in two or more of the following: data mining, visualization, and the use of big data; data analytics as it applies to one or more specific industries (e.g. healthcare, sports); data analytics as it applies to one or more areas of business (e.g. accounting, logistics, human resources)
Evidence of scholarly or professional engagement in data analysis
Commitment to student success, innovative pedagogy, and faith-integrated education
Preferred
Experience teaching in both face-to-face and online instructional formats, at both the Undergraduate and Graduate levels
Industry experience in data analytics, particularly the interface between the analyst and the end-user
Familiarity with Christian higher education and mission-driven teaching
