Westchester County’s Law Department is actively recruiting for an Assistant Chief Deputy County Attorney for our Litigation Bureau. This role involves assisting the County Attorney with complex legal assignments, supervising the Litigation Bureau, and providing legal advice to top-level County officials.

Responsibilities

Participates in the planning, direction, and coordination of the preparation of briefs in both administrative adjudications and court litigated matters

Carries out complex legal assignments

Provides legal advice to top-level County officials

Considers recommendations as to settlement of cases

Manages and guides County public employment labor matters as required, including county employee disciplinary proceedings, grievance proceedings, PERB hearings, and labor contract compliance issues

Maintains liaison with legislative committees

Guides, directs, and supervises the work of subordinate attorneys

Participates in and supervises the processing of cases through the various levels of the State and Federal court systems

Directs the preparation of office and staff services for the legal staff

Assists in the preparation of the department’s budget

Assists in the formulation of department policy
