Responsibilities

Computational modeling of multipactor discharge and vacuum breakdown including secondary electron emission, multipactor characterization and mitigation, and plasma discharge induced by emissive surfaces in particle accelerator structures, microwave devices, and nuclear fusion facilities
Developing cutting-edge AI/ML prediction methods for multipactor and plasma discharge prediction in microwave systems, particle accelerator structures, and fusion systems
Compare theoretical and computational results from both physics based models as well as AI/ML methods with experiments in critical accelerator and high power systems
Publishing and presenting research findings in top-tier scientific journals and conferences
Participating in instructional activities and course lectures as appropriate
Mentoring undergraduate and graduate students
Serving on dissertation committees

Qualification

Required

Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, or a related field, with a focus on plasma physics or high energy physics
A minimum of 3 years of postdoctoral research experience in plasma physics, including research on high power microwaves, plasma physics and modeling, and surface and interface sciences
Experience with analytical theory, Monte Carlo simulations, particle-in-cell simulations, fluid code development, AI/ML modeling
Demonstrated potential for scholarly development, supported by multiple first-author, peer-reviewed scientific journal publication in the field of plasma physics or high energy physics
Proven ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams and interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Strong mentoring skills, with experience supervising undergraduate and graduate research projects
Active participation and a record of presentations at relevant academic and professional meetings
Experience teaching the undergraduate and graduate level
Service and appropriate leadership roles in the vacuum electronics, microwaves, and plasma physics community
