Sr. Software Test Engineer
The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies is looking for a Senior Software Test Engineer to provide support for their government customer. The role involves planning, coordinating, developing, and executing software tests to ensure quality and compliance with government standards.

Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, develop, and execute software tests to identify software problems and their causes
Test software products to prepare for government acceptance
Document software and application defects using a bug tracking system and report defects to software or web developers. Write test reports and review test articles & deliverables
Create and maintain databases of known defects
Participate in working group meetings and integrated product team (IPT) meetings to provide status on test activities, coordinate test participation and schedules across teams, discuss and resolve test-related issues
Determine the degree of fidelity for the simulation necessary to maximize the transfer of training
Develop engineering Specifications and other documents required by NAWCTSD Orlando’s policies and procedures on Technical Procurement Package Preparation and Processing
Assist with the development of evaluation criteria and evaluate non-competitive technical proposals and work statements submitted by contractors or in-house resources. When appropriate, recommend and justify the best technical approach among offerors that have submitted proposals in response to the RFP or requirements
Provide contractor support to planners. Clarify software design ambiguities, highlighting areas of software design deficiency, and provide support in resolving conflicts in the proposed engineering technical approach. Document the configuration, design, and performance characteristics of the proposed training system software
Evaluate non-competitive technical proposals IAW the approved proposal evaluation plan
Review contractor's data deliverable (CDRL items) and internal software life cycle work products (e.g. System Engineering Plan, Software Development Plan, System and Software Requirements Specs, System and Software Design Descriptions, Software Test Plans/Procedures, and other Technical Reports)
Continuously monitor and assess performance and recommend appropriate action when contractor delinquencies or deficiencies occur during the trainer system software life cycle
Recommend changes to the training systems contract based on revisions to military training characteristics, changes to performance characteristics, or for pre-planned product improvements
Become familiar with the training system contractor's software life-cycle activities and work products, in order to effectively monitor and assess the software development effort. Assist in resolving related programmatic issues
Participate in appropriate IPT meetings, working groups, design/progress reviews, audits (e.g. Post Award Conferences, Requirements Review, Design Reviews, and Test Readiness Review)
Monitor and evaluate software metrics data for trends, deviations, and compliance
Monitor the requirements analysis, definition and allocation process and work products generated during the training system life cycle
Monitor the software preliminary and detailed design process and related work products generated during the training system life cycle
Monitor the software code and unit test process and work products generated during the training system life cycle. Review the training system contractor's proposed test criteria and subsequently perform examinations and audit test results
Monitor the hardware and software integration process and work products generated during the training system life cycle
Monitor and participate in the Software Physical Configuration Audit
Monitor and participate in the training system acceptance testing process. Perform and document software cold starts and other software related system testing
Monitor the software configuration management process applied and work products generated during training system life cycle
Monitor the software quality assurance process applied, and work products generated during the training system life cycle
Identify problems being encountered in hardware and software development and provide recommendations for resolving these problems
Analyze potential software requirements for modifications on training systems in the operational phase of the training system life cycle. This analysis shall involve extensive research and coordination, including direct contact with fleet activities, government laboratories, and device/system users
Test and evaluation of mission systems, weapons, avionics, and training systems at different skill levels as required. Testing is for Naval and Joint platforms and systems throughout the acquisition lifecycle
Providing input to the Lead Test Engineer for program planning, resource coordination, and interface with other government and contractor T&E agencies
Support for Integrated Test Teams (ITTs) for technical determination of system performance and operational suitability for fleet implementation
Coordination of developmental test (DT), contractor test (CT), and operational test (OT) program requirements to ensure adequate resources for T&E execution
Develop, monitor, and report on the T&E project, schedule, and technical performance. Report T&E program metrics and management issues to the Program Office
Support development of T&E program budget requirements in support of the budgeting process
Provide test support for the Lead Test Engineer for systems testing in support of Program Office IPTs. Form and lead teams for technical determination of system performance and operational suitability for fleet implementation
Support Integrated Test Teams (ITTs) for technical determination of system performance and operational suitability for fleet implementation
Identify and support the appropriate types and depth of testing required for the planning phase of comprehensive weapon systems projects. Include cost estimates, scheduling, test plans, and reports as required
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Qualification
Required
B.S. in an engineering discipline or computer science
Approximately seven (7) or more years of experience with simulation test & evaluation, software test engineering & evaluation, or software development for a Navy or DoD customer
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must have an active Secret clearance
Preferred
Master's degree preferred
Familiarity with FCA rating and systems
