Project Development Coordinator for Borough Youth
The City of New York is seeking a Project Development Coordinator for Borough Youth to develop and coordinate youth programming boroughwide. The role involves assessing training needs, recruiting staff, managing partnerships, and ensuring program quality through evaluations and site visits.

Responsibilities
Under general direction of a Borough Chief of Recreation, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, develop, deliver and coordinate youth programming boroughwide
Assess training and certification needs of Recreation staff leading afterschool, sports and summer camp; assist with the scheduling, planning and implementation of staff trainings
Recruit and process seasonal staff related to youth programs
Develop evaluation tools and processes for youth related programs including sports, afterschool and summer camp
Assist with the management and planning of youth programs in a borough
Manage the borough Certificate of Occupancy and Letter of No Objection program and status for facilities tied to youth programming. Address and relay problems to borough and Citywide leadership for immediate attention
Develop new partnerships and serve as a liaison to other city agencies (e.g., Department of Youth and Community Development, Department of Education and Department of Health and Mental Hygiene) and partner organizations
Conduct site visits to observe classes and provide feedback to instructors to ensure consistent quality of content
Facilitate one-on-one sessions with staff who are in need of extra support and education
Establish action plans, set goals and ensure deadlines are met
Track data and produce reports relating to program records, attendance, timesheets, snack dispersal and expenditures. Assist with participant lotteries on Xplor Recreation
Take responsibility for quality assurance via site visits, audits, parental feedback and interviews
Liaise with key stakeholders in Recreation and other NYC Parks divisions
Qualification
Required
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
Education and/or experience which is equivalent to '1' or '2' above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in '1' above
Preferred
A degree from an accredited college or university in a health related field such as human performance, sports medicine, exercise physiology, kinesiology or other health related curricula focused on body mechanics
A minimum of 2 years of experience in group exercise instruction and/or exercise physiology instruction
Currently certified in fitness instruction by one or more of the following: ACE, ACSM, AFAA, NSCA, NASM or any other accredited health and fitness certifying organization
Currently certified in CPR/AED
Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills
Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Access
Ability to initiate and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
Valid New York State driver license
