They are seeking a senior-level Platform Engineer to own and evolve their edge platform for healthcare computing, ensuring stability, security, and reliability of medical imaging gateways deployed across the US.

Responsibilities
Own the complete lifecycle of the virtual appliance (OVA), including OS selection, system packages, and dependency management
Design and maintain automated provisioning and configuration with tools such as Ansible
Define OS and runtime lifecycle strategies for Ubuntu and Red Hat–based systems, including planning and executing upgrades across deployed edge devices with minimal disruption
Collaborate with infrastructure and DevOps colleagues on distribution, versioning, and export formats (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V)
Manage the integration of AWS Greengrass with local container runtimes, ensuring consistent behavior between development and production environments
Own component and container lifecycle management, including versioning, deployment, and compatibility validation
Implement robust health checks, dependency management, and rollout strategies for multiple coordinated services running on the edge gateway
Reduce friction between local Docker Compose workflows and production deployments on the edge platform
Automate database operations, including configuration, backup/restore, and major version upgrades with minimal downtime
Own logging, monitoring, and availability across core platform components, including correct handling of volumes, environment variables, and secrets for containers
Lead development of high availability/multi-node edge device to support uptime and throughput
Enforce security and compliance best practices aligned with HIPAA/HITRUST expectations, including encryption in transit, secure secret handling, and hardening of edge devices
Plan and execute security patches and upgrades across the fleet of gateways in coordination with DevOps and Technical Support
Review and address security advisories (e.g., CVEs) in collaboration with the security and engineering teams
Maintain and evolve the observability stack using tools such as OpenTelemetry (metrics), Fluent Bit (logs), and AWS CloudWatch/Grafana for visualization
Ensure support teams have actionable dashboards and diagnostics for rapid issue triage
Serve as an escalation point for complex production issues affecting edge gateways, including performance anomalies and upgrade-related incidents
Build automation, tooling, and runbooks to reduce operational load and enable self-service where possible
Qualification
Required
Education: B.S. in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
Linux Expertise: Deep experience with Linux administration (preferably Ubuntu and Red Hat families), including boot processes, systemd, storage/LVM, and package management; strong preference for CLI-based workflows
Container Proficiency: Strong understanding of Docker, including networking, volumes, multi-stage builds, and debugging in production-like environments; familiarity with container orchestration concepts beyond basic docker compose
Python Proficiency: Ability to write and maintain Python for automation, tooling, and system integration tasks
Problem Solving: Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills across OS, network, and container layers, especially in constrained or highly controlled environments
Communication: Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to document complex systems for other engineers and support teams
Preferred
Experience with AWS Greengrass V2 or similar edge/IoT orchestration platforms
Experience with Kubernetes or other distributed orchestration systems
Experience managing PostgreSQL in containerized or virtualized environments, including performance tuning and upgrades
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and image-building tools (e.g., Ansible, Packer, Terraform)
Experience with observability stacks based on OpenTelemetry, Fluent Bit, CloudWatch, and Grafana
Background working in healthcare, or other regulated, security-conscious environments
Experience in Platform Engineering roles focused on core product infrastructure, rather than traditional DevOps/SRE support roles
Experience supporting edge or on-premises deployments with varying network and security constraints
