Responsibilities
Solely responsible for fundamental research on one particular industry with the objective of developing specific company and stock recommendations for the portfolios managed by MFS
Work independently in the structuring, development and communications of investment recommendations
Draw upon a wide variety of information sources such as company literature, business publications and Wall Street research
Attend conferences and field trips to company facilities and interviews with corporate management at all levels
Perform as the 'in-house' expert on their particular area(s) of concentration
Given responsibility for one industry (usually 4 -5 companies)
Participate in a short, 3 day training program at the start of the internship to reinforce some of the basic skills necessary to do the job
Work with a senior analyst who provides guidance and assistance in the development of analytical and valuation techniques
Qualification
Required
Ability to conduct fundamental research on a particular industry
Capability to develop specific company and stock recommendations
Independence in structuring, developing, and communicating investment recommendations
Ability to draw upon a wide variety of information sources such as company literature, business publications, and Wall Street research
Emphasis on original industry and company research
Willingness to attend conferences and field trips to company facilities
Ability to interview corporate management at all levels
Expected to perform as the 'in-house' expert on particular area(s) of concentration
Participation in a short, 3-day training program at the start of the internship
Ability to work with a senior analyst for guidance and assistance in the development of analytical and valuation techniques
Effective generation and communication of investment recommendations
