The City of Surprise is seeking a Fleet Technician I to perform journey-level repairs and maintenance on various automotive and small equipment. The role involves assisting more experienced technicians with general repairs and maintenance on a diverse range of vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities

Perform journey-level repairs and maintenance on a wide variety of automotive and small equipment
Assist Fleet Technicians II and Fleet Technicians III with general repairs and maintenance on a variety of diverse equipment and vehicles such as solid waste vehicles, construction equipment, fire apparatus, bucket trucks, and others

Qualification

Required

High school diploma or GED
Two years of automotive or heavy truck servicing, maintenance, and repair experience OR completion of an accredited automotive or diesel training program at a trade school or community college
Must have at the time of hire and be able to maintain a valid Arizona Driver License
Must have at time of hire EPA 609 A/C refrigerant handlers card (or obtain within 6 months of hire)

Preferred

Valid Arizona Commercial Driver License (CDL), Class B or higher
DOT Medical Certification Card
Experience in municipal and/or private Light, Medium vehicle and/or equipment fleet repair
Training, technical experience, and certificates in fleet repair and maintenance, fleet diagnostics, Master automotive technician (ASE), Master medium/heavy duty technician (ASE), Master fire apparatus, law enforcement, ambulance (EVT)
Experience repairing air-conditioning, brakes, diesel engines, electrical systems, fire trucks and ambulance maintenance, gasoline engines, hydraulics
Experience operating back-hoe, car and light truck, fire truck, ambulance and police, heavy equipment, medium and heavy truck, sanitation truck, small equipment (e.g. gator, mowers, etc), sweeper, tractor/loader
