Responsibilities

Directs, develops, and maintains entire overall design process for all assigned projects
Independently oversees the coordination of work of a multidisciplinary team through multiple phases of a project
Serves as the main liaison between the consultant and technical teams and the internal design, product, and construction teams to provide guidance on project priorities through multiple phases to complete documents on schedule
Monitors the quality and suitability of consultants, ensuring that design goals are met, and provides guidance to ensure design is completed to target and brand vision
Engages with senior leadership in the development of long-range planning and objectives
Embraces the value of the design guidelines & standards, CADD & drawing standards, and contract references, taking the leadership that they are fulfilled within content of design drawings and specifications, and is ultimately accountable that the materials are delivered on a timely basis
Develops team resources (people, processes, tools) to manage large scale projects. Independently plans, manages, guides design, and oversees projects, while cross coordinating and sharing best practices effectively between external architectural, interior design and consultancy firms, guiding the design they provide
Upholds SQM and guidelines throughout all design phases. Brings pro-activeness in creating new methods and processes for better executing the work
Leads presentations and project reports for Executive and leadership review
Creates planning models that support the organization's mission and values based on an internal and external needs assessment and monitors the external environment to identify opportunities required to execute the department's strategy
Track financial aspects of projects, coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to schedule
Communicates effectively with consultants and internal project team to identify needs, evaluate alternative solutions, and deliver value added services
Manages internal stakeholder and consultant relationships
Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion
Effectively communicates difficult/sensitive information and challenges, while proactively finding optimal solutions for the same
Motivates project teams to effectively collaborate and is able to course correct to achieve project goals
Oversee the design of large developments in hospitality, and commercial applications
Participate in or lead the management of deliverables at all project phases
Support RCI policies on project delivery, quality control, and safety
Have the skills to provide quick mark-ups, alternative solutions for areas that need immediate responses
Possess excellent multi-disciplinary technical knowledge
Maintain internal stakeholder and consultant relationships
Facilitate and hold team and consultant meetings
Lead and inform the Project Team of changes and updates
Understand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information and challenges
Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change
Remains engaged and knowledgeable regarding emerging industry practices
Desire and ability to lead and contribute on multiple levels within the design process
Independently coordinate work of Project Architects and balance multidiscipline team throughout the entire project's development
Be an active participant in all products, design and production meetings to gain a thorough understanding of project vision
Participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
Conduct concept design, schematic design, design development, and contract document work sessions in conjunction with the Sr. Dir of Architecture & Design, Dir. of Architecture & Design, Project Architect, and other disciplines
Coordinate workload through entire project development to complete documents on schedule
Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to schedule
Supports Product Development team is providing all necessary assets and studies for executive project alignment
Serves as the main liaison for design related updates to the core project teams made up of members from the product development, project management, construction, and operations teams
Facilitates consultant meetings as needed to drive the project goals and timelines forward
Effectively communicate relevant project information to internal leadership, including facilitating ideation sessions, technical reviews, and overall feasibility and options
Perform other duties as needed

Required

Ten or more years of professional experience, professional degree in architecture from an accredited program, licensure preferred but not required
Bachelor of Architecture
Minimum of 8 years of related design experience hospitality, Retail / Dining / Entertainment (RDE), theme park projects, as well as a minimum of 5 years of project management experience
Experience on campus style developments (multiple buildings)
Minimum of 10 years managing multi-million-dollar projects and managing high-performing teams
Proficient in use of AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit and familiarity with related tools and process
Experience with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), Bluebeam, Photoshop
Must be able to lead a team on projects
Excellent interpersonal skills with strong ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and employees, across diverse cultures around the world
Strong planning and mentoring skills
Exceptional organizational skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to travel internationally or domestically at least 25% of the time

Preferred

8+ years of experience within cruise design industry preferred
