Responsibilities

Assist Supervisor and Executive Director with development of Youth Development educational STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art/Agriculture, and Math), Farm to School, and Agriculture in the Classroom School/Dairy in the Classroom programming to meet identified needs and diverse interests of school-age youth
Assist in creating lesson plans, curricula, program materials, and educational resources for school-year and summer programming
Participate in advisory committees and collaborative planning efforts to support program relevance and effectiveness
Assist with structuring programs to meet the needs of diverse youth audiences across formal and informal educational settings
Deliver high quality Agriculture in the Classroom, Dairy in the Classroom, Farm to School, day camp, and afterschool programs that address local, regional, and statewide priorities
Provide instruction in traditional classrooms and non-traditional settings such as homeschool groups, field trips, fairs, and community-based programs
Deliver engaging, age-appropriate youth learning experiences across diverse settings and formats—classroom instruction, hands-on activities (e.g., taste tests), field trips, school-wide and afterschool programs, 4-H activities—using a variety of educational methods including direct instruction, group learning, media, and digital/distance technologies
Occasionally apply existing subject matter knowledge (agriculture, food, farm, and STEAM) and utilize existing research-based curriculum to create lessons plans to deliver educational programs
Deliver programs and participate in special projects including but not limited to the 4-H Leader training, County Fair, State Fair, 4-H Fundraising, Public Presentations, Recognition Night, enrollment campaign, and other extension association activities, as assigned
Serve as agriculture, Farm to School, and STEAM subject matter resource utilizing existing subject matter resources and materials
Provide educational program efforts via mass media including contributing articles to 4-H newsletter, utilizing emails, phone messages, and social media postings
Via established program parameters, communicate and cooperate with school personnel to foster intentional instruction and to address the needs and interests of participating youth
Represent CCE before the public, community leaders, government officials, Cornell, or other land grant Universities in a professional manner as part of program delivery
Serve as a team member and cooperate with the entire Association and Program staff to support the goals and objectives of the CCE Wyoming County Strategic Plan
Interact with program participants always representing CCE in a professional, attentive, and proactive manner
Assist with the design and implementation of Agriculture in the Classroom, Dairy in the Classroom, Farm to School, day camp program evaluation
Collect evaluation data from participants, schools, volunteers, and partners in accordance with established procedures
Assist in analyzing collected program evaluation data for reporting and program improvement purposes using standard, established policy, procedure, and methods
Communicate evaluation results and findings to Program Manager and the Executive Director, as requested
Assist in recommending program changes to strengthen and improve programs
Assist with planning the delivery of established educational program goals
Assist with identifying program, activity, and resource needs necessary to implement initiatives and projects
Solve problems and resolve conflicts that arise in the operation of Agriculture in the Classroom, Dairy in the Classroom, Farm to School, day camp programming, County Fair events, utilizing appropriate policies and procedures with the guidance of supervisor and Executive Director
Assist in identifying and recommending program needs (i.e., program supplies and materials)
Assist with identifying ways to reduce costs and maximize existing resources within the Association
Assist with ensuring volunteer direction and management procedures are followed according to established policies and procedures by providing guidance, leadership and resources for volunteers and volunteer leaders including recruitment, screening, orientation, training, evaluation, and management
Assist in ensuring school system partnerships adhere to agreement scope of work
Coordinate identified administrative tasks to support the delivery of established educational program goals, i.e., confirming events; gathering materials and resources for program delivery; and ensuring delivery to offsite program locations
Schedule, coordinate, and/or facilitate school-based program efforts, meetings, programs, trainings, and conference calls related assigned programmatic efforts as required
Maintain records of class participants, complete reports, and accurately collect and prepare paperwork as required
Provide support and coordination for various County and State Fair activities including enlistment of judges, scheduling of animal shows, staffing and coordination of volunteers for designated shows, programs, and events
Effectively communicate with parents of school districts as needed to achieve program goals
Document schedule of classroom visits and coordination meetings associated with contracts and grants, report to Supervisor and/or Executive Director, as required
Assist in utilizing effective marketing strategies in the promotion of programming efforts to include, but not limited to: print media, news media, social media, and multi-media efforts
Effectively maintain existing professional relationships with other agencies, organizations, and businesses to facilitate continued programming efforts
Prepare and submit accurate expense reports, mileage reports, receipts/supporting documentation, and/or vouchers in a timely manner per established policy and procedures
Maintain confidentiality of all information and data collected, accessed, and/or maintained
Provide data and information to assist with preparation of reports, impact statements, and success stories for funders, advisory committees, Board, and others as requested
Transport self, program participants, volunteers, and/or program materials/resources as necessary as part of performing position responsibilities
In cooperation with the Supervisor, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes in programming and association priorities
Participate in all required orientation, training, and/or in-service meetings and events as scheduled/required
Support the association to maintain a safe working environment
Be familiar and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, association health, and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard
Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified
Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension including but not limited to attendance at staff meetings, timely reporting of expenses, working with other staff, general marketing of Cooperative Extension programs and other duties as assigned
Conduct all programming and activities in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations
Aware of, and adheres to, established Cornell Cooperative Extension Association policies, procedures, and processes
Carry out assignments and other duties as assigned by supervisor, including but not limited to local fairs, community activities, etc. Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension including but not limited to attendance at staff meetings, timely reporting of expenses, working with other staff, general marketing of Cooperative Extension programs and other duties as assigned
Perform all assigned duties in a professional, timely, and accurate manner
Maintain regular and predictable attendance and punctuality

Preferred

Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read, and write proficiently) in Spanish
Experience with Cooperative Extension or other similar educational organizations
Degree in Agriculture, Food, Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline
Experience guiding and collaborating with educators, home-school groups, and volunteers
Experience teaching children in a formal education setting
Experience working for or participating in 4-H programs
Experience working in the agriculture or food system
