Responsibilities

Working collaboratively with lawyers and other investigators in the investigation and defense of cases where people have been accused of crimes in Harris County, Texas
Receive cases and work them up; meet with attorneys to strategize defensive theories; begin locating, investigating and interviewing witnesses; conducting background checks; drafting affidavits; collecting evidence; researching social media platforms, cell phones (submitting cell phones for extractions and subpoenaing cell phone records) and reviewing/charting that information
Writing summaries of interviews and keeping attorneys constantly apprised of case findings; traveling to alleged crime scenes and different scenes and conducting canvasses of the area to include photographing and personally locating surveillance videos and extracting same
Retrieval of discovery from local law enforcement and labs; travel out of town when witnesses need to be interview; travel to penal institutions, mental hospitals, jails and prisons; meeting with clients and their family members; assisting attorneys in court with witness preparation and jury selection
Investigators will be expected to testify in court

Required

A Bachelor's degree conferred by an institution of higher education from an accredited organization recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (or other State Equivalent)
In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, significant investigative experience is required
Good written and oral communication skills required
Effective organizational and time management skills required to successfully execute job duties
A valid driver's license is required. (Must obtain a Texas driver's license before the date of hire)

Fluency in the Spanish language in speaking, reading and writing
