Responsibilities

Apply mechanical engineering skills, experience and knowledge to the design and oversight of the design, for building projects

Acquire assigned workflow to produce the design documentation, drawings, and calculations required for mechanical engineering projects

Sharing knowledge with others by serving as a resource

Meets technical, contractual, schedule, budgetary and client service objectives for each project

Develops project related client presentations

Maintains and expands current knowledge of technologies and trends, as they apply to the applicable project and market types and continually strengthens skills

Attend client project meetings

Apply buildings engineering and project management knowledge to meet project requirements within established time frames and budgets

Able to perform water, waste, gas calculations as well as product specifications

Coordinate and prepare schematic design, design development, and construction documents

Design plumbing systems including water, sanitary, storm, diesel distribution, and natural gas distribution systems

Required

Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited curriculum in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Minimum of 5 years of experience in the buildings design industry preferred

Position requires the ability to travel both domestically & internationally

Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of Building codes and NFPA standards

Ability to integrate design elements with other disciplines to deliver a coordinated design

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with owners, other disciplines involved in the project, contractors, suppliers, etc

Ability to apply logic, reasoning, and organizational skills to structure concepts and ideas into projects

Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of the mechanical and/or plumbing codes, energy codes, ASHRAE standards, and other building codes

Proficiency of and ability to use standard computer applications including, but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit

Ability to create building energy models and analyze the life cycle cost analysis using NIST BLCC5 software

Knowledge of and ability to use software for heating/cooling load calculations, either Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, IES, or equivalent

Preferred

Familiarity with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) is preferred

Minimum of 5 years of experience in the buildings design industry preferred

Preferred candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer or is currently working toward professional licensure (EIT)

LEED Green Associate or LEED AP is preferred
