The Scheduling Coordinator will be responsible for managing the surgery scheduling process, including verifying insurance, obtaining authorizations, and coordinating preoperative testing with surgeons.

Responsibilities

Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources, the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan, and the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program's Code of Conduct

Triage surgical candidates as required by the physicians

Educate patients about planned surgery

Verify insurance information in the electronic system

Obtain insurance authorizations as required by individual plans prior to surgery

Obtain medical clearances and coordinate preoperative testing in concert with surgeons and per hospital protocols

Work with appropriate hospital personnel to obtain necessary information for surgery scheduling

Confirm and reschedule return appointments, as necessary

Notify manager with patient account and insurance issues

Provide assistance to administrative or clinical staff as needed; other duties as assigned

Required

High school diploma/GED required with completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program

CPR required

Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a physician office with previous surgery scheduling experience strongly preferred

Occasional local travel to support other offices
