The role of Service Technician 1 involves performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks, while also participating in advanced training opportunities.

Responsibilities
Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests to troubleshoot issues and repair vehicle to proper operating condition
Perform routine and preventative maintenance services. Identify worn and damaged parts all parts to include major components, repairing, adjusting, or replacing as needed
Troubleshooting with diagnostic software – charging systems, brakes, suspensions, A/C system
Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs
Ability to be on task to meet shop quality and efficiency standards
Maintain safe and organized work area
Follow all state and federal vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards; follow company policies, procedures, and safety and EPA regulations
Must use all safety equipment necessary for the job
Maintain current knowledge of job and technical skills by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical and regulation publications
Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems
Qualification
Required
Minimum 6 months practical experience in commercial 6 & 8 truck classes
Able to perform preventative maintenance services such as oil & transmission changes, replacement of light body components and lights & sensors, etc
Proficient in the repair and diagnosis of: diesel engines; interior & exterior cab components, hydraulic systems, steering systems, and brakes
Proficient in use of all tools of trade
Basic computer skills to input vehicle maintenance records and utilize diagnostic software
Be able to provide a detailed written analysis and computer input of the three C's (complaint, cause, correction) as well as details on any repairs
Ability to meet physical demands of the job (job requires frequent lifting/moving up to 50lbs, climbing, stooping, kneeling, seeing, grasping, hearing, etc.)
Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
Ability to maintain predictable and reliable attendance and work in a safe and alert manner
Valid driver's license and able to meet insurance requirements. CDL license preferred but not required
