Reviewing and preparing requests for new positions, reclassifications, and increases in minimum hiring rates
Developing recruitment strategies
Corresponding with potential applicants about job opportunities
Counseling employees as needed

Required

Six (6) years of experience performing and supervising the performance of various human resources activities such as staffing services, which consist of recruitment, examination, and placement activities; position classification and compensation; and employee services such as employee benefit, health and safety, employee counseling, and employee recognition
An associate's degree can substitute for two (2) years of specialized experience
A bachelor's degree can substitute for four (4) years of experience
A master's degree in a related field can substitute for five (5) years of experience
A doctorate in a related field can substitute for six (6) years of experience
Four (4) years of experience performing and supervising the performance of various human resources activities such as staffing services, which consist of recruitment, examination, and placement activities; position classification and compensation; and employee services such as employee benefit, health and safety, employee counseling, and employee recognition
Five (5) years of experience performing and supervising the performance of various human resources activities such as staffing services, which consist of recruitment, examination, and placement activities; position classification and compensation; and employee services such as employee benefit, health and safety, employee counseling, and employee recognition
To be advanced to the full performance level, Human Resources Specialist 1, you must successfully complete a 2-year traineeship
To be advanced to the full performance level, Human Resources Specialist 1, you must successfully complete a 1 year of the traineeship
Candidates must be reachable on a current Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) eligible list
Candidates must be reachable on the Public Administration Traineeship Transition (PATT) eligible list
Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law
