Brewing Engineering Instructor
UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) is the lifelong learning arm of the university. They are seeking a Brewing Engineering Instructor to teach students the principles of brewery equipment and engineering in both online and in-person formats.
Responsibilities
The Brewing Engineering Instructor will partner with various UC Davis support team members to teach students the working principles of common brewery equipment and will have the quantitative skills to apply that knowledge to any brewery
Through a combination of online and in-person lectures, the instructor will ensure that students at the end of course obtain required skills in the domain area
The primary responsibility of the Instructor is to teach to the Learning Outcomes that prepares students to understand and master equipment and engineering principles of the brewing process
The Brewing Engineering Instructor must be a highly credible deep domain expert
Under the general supervision of Instructional Services, the Instructor Partner will serve as the subject matter expert to teach an intensive learning experience that will be delivered as the UC Davis Academic Program as part of the Master Brewers Certificate Program, one of the top Brewing Programs in the world
The role is a ‘work for hire” focused on ensuring student’s academic progress and outcomes
The Instructor Partner will collaborate closely with CPE Instructional Designers and staff to create a high-impact learning experience
While teaching is the primary responsibility, the Instructor may update the curriculum to meet current standards in Brewing Engineering
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, agriculture or related field
5+ years' experience in Brewing Engineering with focus on engineering, operation, and maintenance
Familiarity with all aspects of brewing engineering principles
Strong Communication Skills, with the ability to communicate to a diverse student population
Two or more years' experience in teaching or training professionals
Preferred
Advanced Engineering degree
Active Brewery Association membership
Experience teaching online
Two or more years' experience in curriculum development
Knowledge of conservation laws in brewing operations
Experience supporting applied learning opportunities, such as internships or industry projects
