Responsibilities
Responsible for developing conceptual, design, and as-built plans under supervision
Performs field measurements to assist with tasks related to plan development
Reviews data from multiple sources to develop accurate plans
Assists with development of plans/specifications, Invitation for Bids, Requests for Proposals for project advertisement
Assists with submittal review, inspections and project analysis during construction
Participates in meetings as required
Demonstrates knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
Review and perform inspections and condition assessment of gravity sewer infrastructure (mainlines, manholes, wet wells, laterals, etc) using NASSCO industry standards
Review and perform hydraulic assessments of wastewater or stormwater systems
Assist the Civil Engineer with the design of various types of infrastructure projects
Demonstrates regular and punctual attendance
Performs other related duties as required
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology or a related field of study
Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver's record based on the City of Hampton's criteria
This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City's current substance abuse policy
Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion
Some experience with Microsoft Office software
May require working beyond a standard 40-hour work week to include evenings and weekends
Requires some duties to be performed outdoors in adverse weather conditions
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology or a related field of study preferred
