Senior Network Engineer
Arctic Slope Regional Corporation is an Inupiat-owned corporation formed from the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act, and they are seeking a Senior Network Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for the technical support and maintenance of enterprise network infrastructure, focusing on Azure networking and mentoring junior staff.
Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and manage company switching, routing, firewall, VPN, wireless, cable plants, and network management systems across complex architectures, platforms, and mediums—including Azure cloud networking
Lead engineer on assigned network projects, with a focus on Azure Networking, security, and connectivity
Mentor junior network engineering staff, especially in cloud networking and Azure technologies
Communicate IT issues and project status to Senior IT Leadership, with clear articulation of Azure networking strategies and challenges
Define and follow standards and best practices for network design, testing, and implementation methodology, including Azure-specific frameworks
Document the network environment, including Azure cloud components and integrations
Manage cloud networking components, including Azure Virtual Networks, VPN Gateways, ExpressRoute, Network Security Groups, Palo Alto, Meraki, and other related vendor appliances to ensure seamless connectivity between systems
Install, configure, manage, and troubleshoot network infrastructure, hardware, and software, including Azure networking resources
Respond to service/work requests in the Network Administration queue, including Azure-related incidents and requests
Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to explain Azure networking concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
Manage critical escalations to 3rd parties and vendor support, including Microsoft Azure support
Work directly with Telco/ISP and cloud service providers to troubleshoot and onboard new services, including Azure connectivity solutions
Balance day-to-day support with project delivery, ensuring Azure network projects are completed on time and with high quality
Effectively use monitoring/administrative tools to maintain network uptime and efficiency
Configure and deploy routers, switches, and Azure networking resources
Data Center routing and switching experience, including hybrid cloud integrations with Azure
Network security experience, including Palo Alto virtual Firewall, NSGs, and cloud security best practices
Critical thinking and adaptability in both on-premises and cloud environments
Qualification
Required
Bachelor degree in information systems, computer science, engineering, or a related discipline
8–10 years of progressively responsible IT experience, including significant experience with Azure Networking
Experience with Azure networking technologies: Virtual Networks, VPN Gateway, ExpressRoute, Network Security Groups, Azure Load Balancer, and hybrid cloud connectivity
Experience with Cisco hardware and IOS configuration, Palo Alto firewalls, and Panorama
Experience with Cisco hardware and IOS configuration and troubleshooting
Experience with various network technologies, services, and protocols including VLAN, VPN, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, and QoS
Experience with (including the ability to setup, configure, upgrade, manage, and troubleshoot) Cisco routers, switches (Nexus and Catalyst), ASA's, and 802.11 wireless controllers and access points
Experience with Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama centralized management and logging
Experience and expert working knowledge of networking features and protocols such as spanning tree, ARP, CDP, EIGRP, BGP, VTP, Etherchannel, STP, 802.1Q trunking, HSRP, QoS, multicast, IPsec, RADIUS/TACACS+, SNMP, and caching/acceleration/proxy devices and services
Experience with standards based network monitoring and management tools
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or customers
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

This position is required to travel up to 30% of the time, pending current IT projects and initiatives
Preferred
Certifications such as Cisco CCNP/CCDP and Microsoft Azure Network Engineer Associate (AZ-700) preferred
Experience with Cisco Meraki hardware and configuration preferred
Experience with Cisco Data Center (Nexus, Virtualization, and FCoE) preferred
