Program Facilitator - Mather Sports Complex
NEOGOV is seeking a Program Facilitator for the Cordova Recreation & Park District, primarily based at the Mather Sports Complex. The role involves facilitating recreational activities, managing facility operations, and ensuring excellent customer service for community members.

Responsibilities
Acts as a liaison between District staff, customers, contractors, and participants; relays feedback to Senior Recreation Coordinator
Prepare fields and gyms for event setup, including, but not limited to tournaments, games, and rentals. This includes the setup and breakdown of pitching mounds
Enforce appropriate official rules and regulations of games; maintain knowledge of recreation and sports event rules and regulations
Locks and arms facility with correct and effective use of the intrusion alarm system
Receives and receipts payments for participant enrollment in recreation programs; maintains accurate records and writes reports
Post game scores to league website
Complete incident and accident reports and report all necessary information to the Recreation Supervisor as required
Overall facility management while on duty including, but not limited to, opening and closing facility, greet and assist the public in person or by phone, answering inquiries related to department services, programs, or operations
Performs basic clerical tasks such as printing forms, running daily reports, and filing documents
Establish and maintain customer accounts; accurately process point-of-sale transactions, activity registrations, and facility reservations using recreation software
Count and verify cash drawers and run cash distribution reports
Maintains a thorough knowledge of programs at the Mather Sports Center; assists customers with registrations for classes, memberships, and other district offerings
Complete incident and accident reports and report all necessary information to the Recreation Supervisor as required
Organize the setup and teardown of the playing field and necessary game equipment
Prepare score sheets and equipment for play
Keep game clock and operate digital scoreboard
Keep score of games; maintain knowledge of recreation and sports event rules and regulations
Retrieve and return game equipment to a secure location
Organize and oversee the setup and teardown of the playing field required equipment
Lead groups of 10-15 children ages 3-5 in learning the basic fundamentals of the sport
Run drills, teach entry-level sports concepts and skills, and manage children in a group setting
Provide clear, age-appropriate instruction
Remain engaged and communicate effectively with co-workers, parents, and participants as needed
Complete incident and accident reports and report all necessary information to the Recreation Supervisor as required
Enforces District and facility rules and procedures including, but not limited to, program rules, field/facility use, care of equipment, and admittance to facilities
Promote and enforce safety procedures; render first aid and CPR, if certified, as required
Uses strong customer service and interpersonal skills during public contact during the conduct of activities
Acts as Department representative to local residents, community groups, private businesses, and others concerning questions, problems, concerns, and activities in the provision of recreation programs and facility operations
Acts as a liaison between District staff and instructors for class material such as rosters and evaluation forms; relays feedback to Senior Recreation Coordinator from participants and instructors regarding District activities
Sets up and arranges chairs, tables and other furniture according to arrangement charts and plans or verbal directions
Safely utilizes equipment such as audio/visual/sound systems, computers and printers, exercise and sports equipment as necessary for recreation programming
Locks and arms facility with correct and effective use of the intrusion alarm system
Performs light janitorial work before and after recreation programs and empties all trash receptacles and stocks restrooms as required
Perform related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Must be 18 years of age or older
Possession of First Aid/CPR/AED certification or obtain such within six months after employment
Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) background check
A clear tuberculosis screening is required
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade and some experience working in recreation programs, leading and supervising group activities
Strong customer service skills
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Ability to implement activities in support of assigned recreation program
Ability to effectively handle and diffuse disruptive behavior among program participants
Ability to respond to emergency situations in a calm and effective manner
Ability to ensure safe and proper use of recreation facilities and equipment
Ability to gather, analyze, and report information
Ability to clean and care of buildings and equipment
Ability to multitask and plan and organize work to meet changing priorities
Knowledge of operations, services, and activities of assigned recreation activities and programs
Knowledge of group recreational and social activities
Knowledge of various recreation programs in order to assist the general public with their questions
Knowledge of principles and practices of customer service
Knowledge of techniques, principles, and procedures of recreation programs and facilities
Knowledge of rules and equipment utilized in athletic and recreational programs and activities
Knowledge of organization and time management skills
Knowledge of appropriate safety precautions and procedures within the area of assignment
Knowledge of principles and practices of record keeping
Preferred
Knowledge of adult and youth sports programs
Cash handling experience
Basic computer skills

Sick Leave: All part-time and seasonal employees will be issued forty (40) hours of sick leave upon their date of hire and reinstated every one year anniversary to be available for the following twelve months not to exceed a 40 hour cap. Sick leave may not be used until after 90 days of the original hire date.
