CSI is seeking an experienced Outpatient Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Specialist to support outpatient documentation quality, risk capture, and coding accuracy. This fully remote role requires a former practicing MD with active CDI certification to perform outpatient CDI reviews and ensure accurate clinical documentation.

Responsibilities

Perform outpatient CDI reviews to ensure accurate, complete, and compliant clinical documentation

Validate diagnosis specificity, chronic conditions, and medical necessity

Support accurate ICD-10/CPT coding, severity capture, and risk adjustment

Issue compliant documentation queries and collaborate directly with providers

Leverage clinical judgment to ensure the medical record reflects true patient acuity

Required

MD (former practicing physician) – required

Active CDI certification (CDIP, CCDS, or equivalent) – required

Hands-on outpatient CDI experience (ambulatory, clinic, or physician practice)

Strong Epic experience (outpatient workflows preferred)

Deep understanding of ICD-10, CPT, documentation guidelines, and compliance standards

Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment

Preferred

Risk adjustment / HCC exposure

Experience supporting primary care or specialty outpatient clinics

Strong provider education and communication skills
