Senior Staff Accountant

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for completing various accounting and reconciliation tasks while learning essential functions as requested by the Controller.

Responsibilities

Assist in monthly close procedures, including calculating and recording various accruals (payroll, vacation, interest, etc.), amortization of prepaid expenses (maintenance, insurance, etc.), and reclassification (unemployment, recycling, etc.) entries
Prepare secondary reports as assigned (sales tax, outside sales reports, IT spend, inventories, expense reports, etc.)
Prepare financial reports for both the division and pillar as assigned
Complete monthly reconciliations of assigned asset and liability accounts
Assist with A/R, A/P, Job Cost, Purchase Order, and Receiving functions as needed
Prepare and present reports or filings as assigned (sales tax, outside sales reports, inventories, expense reports, material usage, etc.)
Assist with preparing schedules and pulling documentation for external auditors
Assist with monthly and annual inventories
Serve as backup of various functions within the department
All other duties as assigned

Required

5 - 10 years' experience in accounting required, including all facets of accounting
Experience with managing time with simultaneous tasks and projects
Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Cost Accounting Standards to assigned tasks
Ability to adapt to a variety of computer software programs to enable efficient data gathering and analysis
Ability to compile, analyze and interpret data
Ability to reconcile complex accounts
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products
Detail oriented
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision

Preferred

A bachelor's degree is preferred
