Responsibilities

Manage Staff - Hire, train, manage, and retain technical and managerial staff to meet the needs of the programs established. Identify opportunities to coach, mentor and further develop associates technical and customer service skills
Manage Budgets - Develop capital budgets by performing periodic Facilities Condition Assessments in order to establish long term planning for equipment and system replacement, renovation, and restoration activities for their respective sites. Establish and meet operating budgets for assigned cost centers that provide adequate resources to provide the services in a cost effective manner
Maintain Regulatory Compliance Monitor and comply with all regulatory requirements for OSHA, Joint Commission, State of Kentucky, NFPA, and other agencies to ensure safety and environmental compliance
Problem Identification & Solutions Implement Process Improvement, Quality Enhancement, Cost Control. Develop and Implement effective solutions in timely manner
Implement Operational Procedures Develop programs, policies, procedures, operational standards to ensure the safe and reliable operation of assigned Healthcare equipment and systems. Effective Critical and Non-Critical PM program. Provide excellent customer service to all end-users and establish program with metrics to monitor customer satisfaction
Communication Communicate, interact and collaborate with other hospital departments, especially Administration, Security, Safety, Infection Control, Facilities Management, Property Management, Nursing, and Accreditation Services, and serve on inter-departmental committees, to achieve critical organizational objectives regarding customer service, safety, quality, and regulatory compliance
Multi-disciplinary Participation Participate at all levels of organization with various disciplines, i.e.- meetings, taskforces, sub-committees or as assigned
Manage Vendors - Directs and oversees the work of contracted engineering design consultants and mechanical/electrical subcontractors within their respective facilities
Maintain current web-based inventory and paper copies of all records such as electrical distribution, piping systems, HVAC, site utilities and all other critical systems at their respective site
Professional Development - Pursue appropriate professional development opportunities in order to remain current with the continually evolving field of Healthcare Engineering, by means of continuing education, and through active involvement in ASHE and the local healthcare professional associations
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

BA or BS in Engineering or in related technical field
Must have a valid drivers license and a driving record that will meet SEHC insurance requirements
5 or more years with responsibility for daily operations of a hospital engineering/maintenance department; and/or 5 or more years in hospital construction management and/or as a vendor management of maintenance activities within a hospital
Technical expertise in mechanical and electrical infrastructure and utilities; including: Hospital department functions and interrelationships; design, operation, and construction or maintenance of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, building structure (including interior and exterior assemblies). Code requirements, including Life Safety Code and Building Codes. Development, management and forecasting of budgets
