Public Relations Coordinator

Explore Asheville is the organization responsible for promoting tourism in the Asheville area. The Public Relations Coordinator will utilize design skills to support visual and creative executions while collaborating with team members to meet marketing objectives.

Responsibilities

Work with Explore Asheville team members and the Director of Marketing to process and activate creative service projects delivering on-brand design executions that meet business and organizational objectives
Design project examples may include destination and/or community focused advertisements, event branding and marketing, business collateral, presentation materials and digital decks, infographics, direct mail materials, signage, animated and static social posts, social templates and collections, logos, maps, event signage, digital and e-mail marketing templates, as well as layouts for printed brochures, reports and sales/PR materials
Coordinate with local vendors, printers, tourism partners and creative collaborators to ensure on-time, on-budget and color-accurate deliverables that meet technical standards and align with the project vision
Work with team and external partners to ensure delivery and brand compliant execution of Explore Asheville/BCTDA creative assets across sponsored activations and events
Provide graphic support for various presentations, including BCTDA meetings, as needed by the organization. Refresh and organize templates and supporting assets for ease of team use
Assist in the management, curation, organization and delivery of brand-owned digital assets. Maintain efficient working knowledge of supporting DAM software and usage rights. Use understanding of brand photo standards to support gallery creation and development, asset needs assessment, and procurement for creative efforts and team projects as assigned
Support content accuracy by tagging partners in published articles, checking links, and proactively updating/fixing broken links across Explore Asheville web properties
Monitor and help maintain integrity of Explore Asheville brand upheld by the official brand guidelines. Contribute with marketing teammates to guard the living brand through strategic, thoughtful, approved and documented design choices as the brand is interpreted across leisure, business and community facing environments
Provide brand training and an introduction to brand and creative approval processes for new employees to ensure proper activation across the organization
Provide administrative support to the marketing team and assists in the execution of work to raise awareness and inspire travel to the Asheville area
Upload, tag, and organize photo and video assets in Explore Asheville’s digital platforms (e.g., Crowdriff, YouTube), ensuring proper metadata, usage rights, and accessibility compliance
Track, file, and maintain documentation for usage agreements and model releases to ensure brand-owned content complies with legal and licensing requirements
Monitor email bouncebacks and list performance from Explore Asheville’s monthly newsletter, coordinating with marketing teammates to maintain audience health and deliverability
Participate in department and all team meetings, planning meetings (i.e., strategic/department/program/work/objectives), and organizational initiatives to support efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation. Elevate/solve issues, support solutions, and support the maintenance of ongoing processes

Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of 4 years of experience in graphic design of print, digital, social media, office collateral and merchandise executions –OR- any combination of education, coursework, and/or technical training necessary to meet position requirements
Strong portfolio of existing graphic design work demonstrating ability to execute on-brand creative
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint), Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Canva, Asana (or other project management software)
Must be able to use sound judgment and discretion
Well-organized, self-motivated, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
High attention to detail

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or Marketing preferred
Experience in Act-On, Hovercode, Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro preferred
Appreciation for Buncombe County's tourism community
