SANITATION EQUIPMENT OPERATOR I

Responsibilities

Drive sanitation packer trucks on prescribed routes to collect curbside trash, recyclables, limbs, leaves, and other yard waste and transport materials to designated disposal areas
Conduct pre-trip inspections and perform routine preventative maintenance, including cleaning and deodorizing trucks
Supervise and assist sanitation laborers during collection activities, ensuring safe and efficient loading and unloading
Provide instruction to crew members on proper refuse collection and disposal methods
Ensure crew safety and compliance with established procedures throughout assigned routes
Respond to citizen questions regarding sanitation services and procedures as needed
Fill in as a driver or crew member on other sanitation routes when required
Perform related duties as assigned

Required

High school diploma or GED
Minimum of six months of experience in sanitation work or equipment operation
Possession of a valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B required

Class A CDL preferred
