Research Scientist

Responsibilities
Generating rat models of cardiovascular diseases and performing BSL-1 and BSL-2 research using these animal models
Managing transgenic mouse colony, genotyping, and performing BSL-1 and BSL-2 research related to cardiovascular diseases
Working with lab staff on research projects involving molecular/cell biology techniques
Assisting with product ordering and lab organization, updating lab protocols, and ensuring regulatory inspection compliance
Attending weekly laboratory meetings and meeting with Principal Investigators to discuss progress and develop work plans. Practice safe work habits at all times, be knowledgeable about and adhere to university policies and procedures, and complete required training as necessary

Required
Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree (BS/BA)
Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree
A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed: (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree; (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree; (c) Six years of direct experience for a master's degree; (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment
Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310
Preferred
It is preferred that applicants have experience in molecular or cell biological methods and/or in vivo cardiovascular disease models
Additional qualifications include excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Work experience equivalent to four years in biological sciences or a related field
