Need USC/GC Only :: PSA Engineer – Generation – EMS Reliance Services
Ampstek is seeking a PSA Engineer – Generation to join their EMS Reliance Services team, focusing on the development, integration, and support of advanced Energy Management System solutions for power system operations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in generation and network analysis within EMS platforms, ensuring operational excellence for utility and generation networks.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement generation and network applications within the EMS platform environment
Execute full lifecycle development, including feature enhancements, system integration, and maintenance of real-time control applications
Perform rigorous testing activities such as Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), integration testing, and on-site commissioning
Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues to maintain system reliability and uptime
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (controls, networking, communications) for seamless system integration
Maintain comprehensive documentation, configuration management, and testing protocols
Provide direct technical support to customers, addressing issues, and delivering system improvements
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and assess emerging technologies for EMS applications
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
7+ years of experience in EMS, SCADA, or real-time application development
Hands-on experience with EMS platform systems (mandatory)
Strong proficiency in UNIX/Linux and Windows environments
Programming expertise in C, C++, SQL, and shell scripting
Knowledge of real-time data acquisition, system integration, and communication protocols
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex environments
Strong communication skills for interfacing with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Ability to travel occasionally for site testing and commissioning
Preferred
Experience with version control tools (e.g., ClearCase, Git) and change management processes
Familiarity with SCADA networking protocols (DNP3, ICCP, Modbus) and real-time databases
Background in power grid operations, energy generation, or utility systems
Detail-oriented with a process-driven approach
Self-motivated and capable of working independently or in collaborative teams
