The State of Florida's Department of Health is seeking a Regulatory Specialist II to ensure qualified health care professionals can work in the state. The role involves monitoring application processes, responding to public inquiries, and providing support in the licensing of health care professionals.

Responsibilities
Serves as the Team Lead for assigned professions, which includes the following: monitoring the timely completion of all application reports by the team as well as serving as a member of the processing team; reporting to Regulatory Supervisor when application files are not being reviewed in a timely manner. Reports to be monitored would include the following: Initial Application Reports; Unassigned Money Reports; VO Document Upload Reports; Mail Repository Reports; Initial Applications to Expire Reports; 30 Days Since Last Deficiency Reports; Processed Apps Pending Action Reports; Licensure Error Reports, as needed; and other profession-specific application reports, as applicable
Assists in processing applications for all professions within the Medical Therapies/Psychology office, as needed
Responding to general inquiries from the public by telephone, email, and in writing in an appropriate and timely fashion; interpreting customer questions and provide answers to general and complex regulatory questions; providing application status updates and directions to applicants and licensees concerning licensing processes and the submission of applications or requests; transferring customers to the other areas of the Department; or other agencies when appropriate
Serving as primary for respondent monitoring zzzz Feedback email boxes for the dietetic and nutrition profession; distributing emails to the appropriate Council staff and ensuring a response is provided within 24 hours; reporting failure to respond to emails within 24-hours to the Regulatory Supervisor; and serving as the subject matter for dietetic and nutrition expert for processors when confronted with situations that are outside the norm, handling problem applications
Serves as back up to the RSIII position in preparing Council meeting agendas for assigned profession (minimum of 4 meetings per year). Responsibilities would include the following: independent planning and formulation of all in-person and conference call meeting agendas, under the coordination of the Regulatory Supervisor coordinating with Council staff, attorneys and unit management to ensure submission of all required agenda items; ensuring all agenda material is compiled and organized according to unit standards; timely publication of electronic agendas and addenda to Council members and staff; timely publication of required pre and post meeting information (e.g., agendas, FAR notices, public books and audio) on the applicable profession’s website; preparation of meeting minutes for all assigned professions; timely review and filing of post-meeting Council orders; timely completion of all other assigned post-meeting tasks, as needed
Training new employees and providing continuing training to existing employees for process changes
Analyzing and recommending solutions to administrative problems relating to application deficiencies and required qualifications
Assisting with administrative duties related to the processing of applications including, but not limited to, processing supplemental documentation and preparing supplemental documentation for scanning
Qualification
Required
Knowledge and ability to interpret Florida Statutes and administrative codes in regards to licensing and regulation of professionals and facilities, and consumer protection
Knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office software
Knowledge and proficiency in using Windows-based computers
Ability to learn and utilize job-specific software such as LEIDS and AxiomPro and office equipment such as phones, fax machines, scanners, and copiers
Ability to compile, organize, and analyze data
Ability to provide consultative assistance to others
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities on a pre-approved work schedule
Ability to communicate and deal with people effectively
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years' experience that includes data entry, document preparation, computer software use, evaluating legal documents or evaluating for compliance with regulations, customer service, or handling sensitive information
College education can substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis
