Senior Design Manager
Avsar Construction Development, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Senior Design Manager to lead and oversee design activities for large-scale capital improvement, modernization, and critical repair projects. This role serves as the senior design authority, ensuring design quality, regulatory compliance, and alignment with project goals, budgets, and schedules across multiple concurrent projects.

Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and direct all design activities for modernization and critical repair projects
Serve as the lead design professional, providing quality assurance, policy implementation, and procedural oversight within the Design Department
Manage and coordinate the full design process to ensure compliance with functional, budgetary, environmental, and legal requirements
Lead multiple projects by coordinating with architects, consultants, and internal stakeholders from project inception through final design approval and transition to construction
Oversee building design to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and guidelines, and to ensure projects meet educational, operational, and sustainability requirements
Establish and implement a structured process for selecting architectural firms based on qualifications, performance, and project needs
Provide clear and consistent direction to architects and consultants regarding scope, standards, site conditions, schedule, and budget
Develop and manage an efficient design review process that delivers high-quality, cost-effective, and durable design solutions
Ensure timely decision-making to support project schedules
Maintain complete and legally compliant project documentation throughout the design lifecycle
Review and approve design changes to ensure alignment with approved budgets and project objectives
Recommend architectural firm assignments from pre-qualified consultant pools
Participate in community outreach and stakeholder engagement to support project understanding and acceptance
Coordinate with multidisciplinary internal teams, including environmental health and safety, technical services, maintenance, and operations
Support professional development initiatives such as seminars and workshops related to design and construction best practices
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Minimum 15 years of full-time professional experience managing facilities design or capital project planning and coordination, including design oversight, contract administration, cost estimating, and scheduling
At least 5 years of experience in the design, planning, and construction of K–12 educational facilities
Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering from an accredited institution
Active Architect License issued by a State Architectural Board, or
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license issued by the appropriate state licensing authority
Preferred
Master's degree in Architecture or Engineering
