Senior Packaging Specialist

L.L.Bean is seeking an experienced Senior Packaging Specialist to join their team in Freeport, Maine. In this role, you will design and improve packaging solutions for various channels while serving as a subject matter expert and collaborating with internal and external partners to enhance the customer experience.

Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and communicate packaging and labeling standards to vendors and suppliers
Ensure vendor adherence to packaging specifications, labeling and regulatory requirements, and quality standards throughout the product lifecycle
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of packaging trends / industry trends
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and emerging technologies
Prepare, manage, and retain accurate packaging specifications and regulatory documentation within internal systems
Identify and pursue new packaging concepts and technologies with strategic suppliers to support innovation, sustainability, and cost savings
Collaborate with cross-functional partners to manage timelines, communicate risks, and ensure delivery of business objectives
Serve as a technical advisor to address packaging, labeling, and process issues, driving corrective actions and continuous improvement
Lead medium-high complexity projects, providing technical guidance and accountability for milestones and deliverables
Represent the Packaging function in cross-functional initiatives and strategic planning efforts
Other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Industrial Design, or related field preferred
5+ years of relevant experience preferred
Strong organizational skills
Proven problem solving and decision-making skills
Ability to multitask and prioritize work
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Resilient and able to effectively navigate ambiguous situations
Ability to effectively communicate across multiple internal departments and levels as well as with vendors
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator in particular)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, PLM systems, or Warehouse Management Systems is a plus
Knowledge of Fulfillment systems and operations
Demonstrates leadership skills
Willingness to continue to learn, assess, and suggest new systems and technologies
Experience with consumer products or retail companies is a plus
