The Data Quality Engineer will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of organizational data by collaborating with data analysts, data scientists, and cross-functional teams to identify and resolve data quality issues.

Responsibilities

Develop a deep understanding of the data domain, including how data is collected, stored, and used within the organization

Establish and enforce data quality standards, policies, and procedures to maintain high data integrity

Design, execute, and oversee comprehensive data quality assessments, audits, and continuous monitoring processes

Identify, analyze, and resolve data quality issues efficiently, recommending improvements to prevent recurrence

Collaborate with data engineers and data scientists to ensure data quality is integrated into data pipelines, ETL workflows, and processing systems

Create, maintain, and update data quality dashboards, reports, and documentation to provide visibility into data health

Develop training materials to promote best practices and raise awareness about data quality across teams

Monitor key data quality metrics, provide regular updates to stakeholders, and support data governance initiatives

Define testing strategies utilizing modern DataOps practices and automation to facilitate data validation, especially in refactoring and new development efforts

Advocate for the adoption of data contract testing across teams, influencing quality standards and practices

Code and integrate testing frameworks into data pipelines, ensuring automated validation at each stage

Utilize data quality tools such as Databricks, Great Expectations, and other testing platforms to uphold data standards

Willingness to work remotely while accommodating PST hours and periodic travel to the Bay Area, CA (travel expenses covered)

Required

Proven proficiency in Python, with strong scripting and automation skills

Experience with data quality tools such as Great Expectations, Databricks, or similar platforms

Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
