They are seeking an Associate Underwriter Trainee to receive hands-on training in surety underwriting, working alongside experienced professionals and participating in various training and development activities.

Responsibilities

Receive a hands-on introduction to surety underwriting by shadowing an experienced underwriter during the review of financial data and analysis of surety accounts. Each trainee will participate in account meetings, bond form reviews, file documentation, database entries, and management meetings

Receive operations training that will give you firsthand experience with what happens to a surety bond from issuance to premium processing

Participate in underwriting and claims training events and e-learning curriculum to enhance industry knowledge and professional skills

Engage with cross functional teams and business leaders throughout the insurance operation to gain exposure of all facets of the industry

Network with other trainees and early career individuals, including career and industry workshops, and community service opportunities, to name a few

Required

Recent college graduate with a major in business, finance or accounting is desired but all majors will be considered with a minimum GPA of 3.0

Ability to gather and analyze data effectively

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Solid organizational, time management, and planning skills are essential

Experience with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word & Power Point)

A passion for learning

An innovative, entrepreneurial spirit

Ability to take ownership and see tasks through to completion

Valid driver's license is required

Preferred

Prior work experience, including summer or part-time roles or internships preferred

Proven leadership qualities demonstrated through work, community service, athletics, or clubs preferred
