Assistant Corporate Controller
Foster McKay is seeking an Assistant Corporate Controller to oversee complex financial reporting and operational accounting processes. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements while managing consolidation activities and driving continuous improvement across accounting operations.
Responsibilities
Prepare and review SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy statements, and other required disclosures
Ensure compliance with SEC, U.S. GAAP, and SOX requirements
Coordinate with external auditors, legal counsel, and internal stakeholders during quarterly and annual reporting cycles
Draft and review financial statements, footnotes, MD&A support schedules, and disclosure checklists
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including global consolidations and intercompany eliminations
Manage accounting for multiple corporate and a business unit
Ensure consistent accounting policies and practices across entities
Lead a team responsible for the research, interpretation, and implementation of new accounting standards
Review technical accounting memos and position papers for complex transactions
Serve as a key advisor to finance and business teams on accounting implications of strategic initiatives
Provide leadership and oversight across core accounting functions (GL, fixed assets, accruals, reserves)
Ensure strong internal controls and SOX compliance across accounting processes
Support system implementations, process improvements, and automation initiatives
Mentor and develop accounting team members
Support the development, implementation, and reporting of ESG metrics and disclosures
Partner with cross-functional teams (Legal, Operations, HR, Sustainability) to gather and validate ESG data
Assist in aligning ESG reporting with emerging regulatory requirements and frameworks (e.g., SEC climate disclosures, SASB, TCFD, GRI)
Enhance governance, controls, and documentation around ESG data and reporting processes
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (Master's preferred)
CPA certification required
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or public company experience
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance
Experience with consolidations and multi-entity accounting structures
Preferred
The ability to lead and develop teams with high integrity and professionalism
Big 4 or national public accounting firm experience
Public company controllership experience including SEC Reporting
Exposure to ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and financial reporting tools
