Sr. Budget Analyst

Pasco Police Department is seeking a Sr. Budget Analyst to manage and evaluate the County Budget. The role involves complex analysis, project management, and collaboration with various departments to ensure effective budget processes and compliance with financial regulations.

Law Enforcement

Responsibilities

Manage projects
Perform complex analysis
Be responsible for certain portions of the budget process
Assist with annual tax compliance
Develop and implement the County Budget
Provide data associated with impact fee updates
Assist with the Electronic Truth in Millage process for compliance with Florida Property Tax Laws
Assist with debt management (issuance, compliance, etc.)
Analyze, interpret, and present financial data and information
Create and deliver financial reports
Research and analyze budget variances
Assist with management audits and feasibility studies

Required

Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and processes
Knowledge of financial management and budget preparation
Knowledge of laws, ordinances, and regulations governing government financial matters
Knowledge of economic assumptions for budgeting and preparing budget estimates
Knowledge of legislative Process and Bill analysis
Knowledge of budget planning, formulation, monitoring, and execution
Ability to understand and interpret policies, procedures, and regulations
Ability to use financial management and accounting systems
Ability to use data visualization software and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software and other tools to simplify complex data
Ability to develop financial models
Ability to perform statistical analysis
Ability to create and deliver financial reports
Ability to research and analyze budget variances
Ability to assist with management audits and feasibility studies
Ability to provide data associated with impact fee updates
Ability to assist with the Electronic Truth in Millage process for compliance with Florida Property Tax Laws
Ability to assist with debt management (issuance, compliance, etc.)
Ability to analyze, interpret, and present financial data and information
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Ability to pay attention to details and maintain accuracy

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication
Ability to operate a computer and to use a keyboard to enter data
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
2 years of related experience
Must possess a valid Florida driver's license

Preferred

Master of Public Administration (MPA) or similar advanced degree
