FHC Laboratory Coordinator I
ARUP Laboratories is a national clinical and anatomic pathology reference laboratory and an enterprise of the University of Utah. The Laboratory Coordinator I will perform high quality routine and advanced venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures while maintaining communication with healthcare providers and patients.

Responsibilities
Build and maintain relationships throughout all communications while providing a positive, professional, and empathetic understanding to all patients and health care professionals
Deliberation and judgment pertaining to complex job requirements and responsibilities in order to best serve the patient, health care professionals, and ARUP
Handles all incoming calls to insure proper transfer of the call, answer to the question, or information regarding clinical laboratory operations
Gains and maintains knowledge of current requirements of federal, state, local governments and other accrediting and licensure bodies, specifically in regard to ARUP Corporate implementation and compliance to those regulations affecting global quality and compliance processes (e.g. ISO, CLIA, CAP, FDA). Provides quality resources to all ARUP departments as required
Develops/maintains knowledge standardized policies, current processes, and procedures as required for areas of responsibility
Successfully completes identified cross training duties and maintains competency
Schedules patient and clinical study appointments. Enters and maintains laboratory documentation in patient charts
Assists with patient and administrative requests for health information/medical records
Performs routine and advanced venipuncture, capillary, and urine collections according to department standards by;Collecting high quality specimens in a timely manner, using established phlebotomy techniques.Centrifuge and pour-off samples and process samples for courier pick up at designated times
Maintains an organized, clean, and well-stocked work area/phlebotomy stations. Properly disposes of contaminated materials, keeps work areas supplied and clean, and observes all established safety policies
Cleans, sterilizes, and performs basic maintenance on equipment
Attends staff meetings and in-service sessions to assure job competency and communication with ARUP
Understands, willingly accepts, and performs assignments from the Lead, Supervisor, Group Manager or designee; and is supportive of those in authority. Assumes Lead responsibilities as assigned

Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or Equivalent or better
Must successfully pass the Phlebotomy departmental competency testing with a score of 90% or better
Have at least three (3) months experience as a Phlebotomist I Or one (1) year of related experience and ability to pass competency within three (3) months of hire
Ability to type 40 WPM
Basic computer skills
