Director, Specialty Compliance and Ethics

Responsibilities

Leading a team responsible for on-time and accurate product-related state reporting requirements (EPR, VOC, etc.)
Developing and automating EPR reporting processes, registration, managing cross-functional projects to implement EPR requirements, and coordinating with tech teams on data systems, including: establishing and continually improving the data reporting process for packaging, identifying efficiencies to reduce effort and minimize fees/penalties; and managing regulatory reporting; coordinating the collection of packaging data across the organization and ensure timely submission of EPR reports to government agencies
Advising the business and partnering with cross-functional teams (e.g., Merchants and Sourcing) on best practices to embed sustainability and EPR requirements into day-to-day product development, packaging design and decision-making
Developing a formal state product reporting program across multiple stakeholders and product types
Leading continual improvement of state reporting for Product Compliance
Developing analytics and insights to spot risk across state reporting regulations
Working with key stakeholders to remediate risks and build compliance controls
Collaborating across stakeholders to ensure program awareness and communicate change impact to other business areas

Required

Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field
5 years' experience in compliance, ethics, legal, project management, or related area OR 7 years' experience in compliance, ethics, legal, project management, or related area
3 years' supervisory experience
4 years' experience using intermediate functionality of Microsoft Office
strong leadership, executive communication, and critical thinking skills
experience working with government organizations / state programs
experience in Sourcing, Merchandising and/or Sustainable Packaging or Product Design
understanding of Cost of Goods and Merchandising P&L strategy
ability to guide insights and lead data/analytics strategy
experience building and scaling compliance programs/processes
organized, disciplined, and can manage multiple programs simultaneously
ability to work cross-functionally to improve processes through indirect influence

Preferred

Masters degree or 10 years of related experience in Sourcing, Merchandising or Compliance
5+ years experience in working with governmental agencies
5+ years experience building and improving cross-functional programs / process improvement
5+ years experience in regulatory compliance management or finance (budgeting/cost tracking)
Experience in Data Analytics strategy and execution
