ALCOSAN is committed to providing wastewater treatment services and enhancing community safety by protecting rivers and streams. The Sampling and Compliance Supervisor will oversee industrial pretreatment compliance, manage database structures, and supervise a team to ensure regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

Project Manager for a large database structure that manages environmental permit compliance from 100+ Industrial Customers and the various reporting requirements

Performs database organization and quality assurance assessments of Laboratory information from internal sample results and external industrial customer data including the evaluation, reporting and organizational presentation of data

Organize and process information submitted by industrial customers for compliance with various regulations and reporting within the ALCOSAN Pretreatment Program

Provides data analysis and enforcement recommendations, in a report format to the Manager of Industrial Waste, and participates with the Manager and Director of Environmental Compliance in industrial enforcement negotiations

Organizes, assigns, and supervises the activities of the Department's Samplers and Investigators including sampling in the treatment plant, industrial sampling and inspection, and investigation of sewer incidents

Provides on-site supervision of Samplers and Investigators

Provides monthly compliance reports for 100 + Industrial Users

Manages compliance schedules and serves as primary point-of-contact with industry to ensure scheduled activities are completed

Drafts Industrial Discharge Permits based upon knowledge and review of regulations, industrial processes, and compliance history for review and issuance by the Manager of Industrial Waste

Serves as primary point-of-contact of customer questions concerning Pretreatment requirements, The FOG Program, and The High Strength Surcharge Program

Manages the Authority's High Strength Surcharge Program. This includes, assigning sampling points, organization of data in a database, analyze data by queries and reports, provides an assessment of the data and prepares reports to be utilized by Customer Service and Billing

Generates incident reports, evaluates data, generates violation letter, reviews inspection reports which all would be tracked by a Department database system

Assumes duties of the Manager of Industrial Wastes in the Manager's absence and assists Manager with technical training and certification of field personnel

Coordinates and plans the department’s daily and weekly sampling activities and provides an estimated weekly sample projection to the Laboratory

Organizes and structures staff participation in Industrial Waste Department Education presentations

Reviews and shares new sampling techniques and methodologies as well as adding and developing corresponding Standard Operating Procedures

Performs other job-related duties as needed

Required

Bachelors' Degree in Natural or Applied Sciences, or a related field

Two (2) years' of Environmental Compliance or Sewage Treatment experience including two (2) years' of Supervisory or two (2) years of Project Management experience with an emphasis in informational database systems

Possess, or ability to obtain Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification

Extensive / Considerable Knowledge Of Database Management and data analysis

Extensive / Considerable Knowledge Of Pre-treatment Industries including regulations and plant operations
