Responsibilities

Support between 1 and 3 efforts simultaneously, balancing throughout a 40-hour workweek

Perform system safety analysis tasks in accordance with MIL-STD-882E and customer program requirements

Work independently on efforts, defining own tasking derived from customer needs and contractual documents

Provide System Safety technical oversight as needed

Support a different program in the matrixed engineering portfolio when efforts end

Required

A Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with 6+ years of experience or an MS with 4+ years

Demonstrated familiarity with MIL-STD-882E and its application to system safety programs

Experience in deriving requirements for complex electrical, electro-mechanical, mechanical, and software systems

Position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams

Demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment

Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area

Possess a secret clearance

Preferred

Preference shown to candidates who possess a Master of Science in Safety or System Engineering from an ABET-accredited university, and/or have at least 2-4 years of direct system safety engineering experience

Familiarity with AR 385-10, AR 385-16, AR 770-3, and AMCOM 385-17

Knowledge of Army Safety Board processes and preparation

Experience conducting hazard analyses (PHA, FHA, SHA, SSHA, O&SHA, EHA, HHA, FTA, FMEA)

Proficiency with safety tools and databases (e.g., hazard tracking systems, model-based systems engineering, requirement databases)

Demonstrated experience effectively leading a team of engineers

Demonstrated experience accurately estimating the engineering effort (i.e. hours) associated with System Safety Engineering tasks

Understanding of the DoD acquisition processes and methods

Experience supporting one or more DoD programs

Object Management Group (OMG) Certified System Modeler Professional (OCSMP) certification

INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) certification (ASEP or CSEP)
