Senior Data Architect

Children’s Hospital Association is dedicated to improving healthcare for children by collaborating with over 200 member hospitals. The Senior Data Architect will optimize CHA’s data assets and lead data modeling, integration, and solution design activities to support the organization’s comparative data program and data architecture development.

Responsibilities

Designs and implements end-to-end Azure Cloud based data solutions, including data ingestion from different external and internal domains, storage, processing and security
Creates logical, conceptual, and physical data models including dimensional schemas (star/snowflake), normalization/denormalization, and data lake medallion architecture
Interprets business requirements and translate them into scalable, secure, and efficient technical data architecture designs
Acts as a subject matter expert regarding data architecture and data initiatives
Implements data governance frameworks aligned with HIPAA, HITRUST, and PHI compliance, ensuring data quality and security
Designs, develops and optimizes data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes for healthcare data ingestion and transformation
Designs solutions and integrations connecting to existing platforms and products (SQL Server, Azure SQL Managed Instances, Business Objects, Tableau)
Designs hierarchical namespace for CHA data lake layers
Designs and implements pre-aggregated tables for faster Analytics tool performance
Stays updated on emerging cloud data technologies and best practices in data architecture
Leads the development and delivery of appropriate data architecture training
Develops engineering tests and develops database queries to help team analyze the effects and troubleshoot any issues

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science, health informatics, or other relevant disciplines
8 years of relevant experience in health data informatics is required
Strong knowledge of healthcare data models (OMOP Common Data Model preferred)
Knowledge of major hospital EHR/ERP data systems
Strong knowledge of cloud data technologies such as Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, Azure Purview, Azure DevOps, Snowflake
Knowledge of clinical data standards (e.g. LOINC, SNOMED-CT, ICD-10, RxNORM, etc.) and experience with applicable standards specifications (e.g. C-CDA, FHIR, USCDI, EDI) and other health information technology tools for transfer of health information
Knowledge of industry leading data quality and data protection management practices
Knowledge of business intelligence, machine learning, AI, and data analytics
Working knowledge of privacy laws (i.e., HIPAA, HITECH, GLB, etc.), access and release of information
Knowledge of project management and process improvement principles, methods, and techniques
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to cultivate professional and business partnerships
Ability to break down complex business problems and projects into manageable technical goals
