Development Coordinator

Alaska Institute for Justice is a non-profit dedicated to protecting the human rights of all Alaskans. The Development Coordinator will work to advance AIJ’s mission by developing and implementing fundraising strategies and public relations efforts to support the agency’s programs.

Research

Responsibilities

Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan for the organization and its programs
Seek out and lead fundraising opportunities that align with AIJ’s financial goals and values
Grow and strengthen AIJ’s network of partners and supporters
Choose and maintain a donor database
Keeping up-to-date information on donors and donations and generate acknowledgement and thank you letters
Foster relationships with major donors, foundations, and prospects
Work with the communications coordinator to develop communications needed for the execution of the fundraising plan
Coordinate with program directors to look for development opportunities
Organize events to maintain relationships with donors and raise awareness of AIJ’s work in the community, including solicitation of in-kind event support (auction items, partnerships, event donations)
Participate in staff meetings
Maintain regular and reliable attendance
Other duties as assigned

Required

Excellent written and oral communication skills
Self-confidence
Ability to champion AIJ's mission and programs to diverse audiences

Ability to work with people from diverse cultures whose first language is not English
Existing connections with, or ability to make connections with, funders at all levels
B.A or higher in Development, Communications, or related work experience
Experience developing and executing effective fundraising strategies and activities
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Work experience with culturally diverse groups
Highly organized with attention to detail
Knowledge of social media tools, excel spreadsheets and data entry
