Responsibilities
Under general direction of the Construction Office Chief, incumbent serves as a Construction Engineer; and/or as a Resident Engineer on a complex project (or group of projects) requiring a large staff to monitor the contractor's operations
Directing the processing of payment to contractors and change orders; responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the difficult engineering and administrative tasks of the District Construction Field Office
Directing the processing of Construction Contract Claims
Qualification
Required
Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers is required
Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle
Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required
Preferred
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing (including presentations) and competently represent the Department to management, local agencies, and the public
Knowledge and experience tracking and monitoring cost, scope and schedule of projects and operating budgets and identification and resolution of issues impacting them
Knowledge and experience of project delivery and experience in highway construction and design
Experience and ability to independently lead teams
Experience managing complex projects and ability to anticipate situations and the implications and consequences of decisions and take appropriate action to prepare contingencies
Experience and ability to develop, maintain and strengthen partnerships with others inside or outside of the organization through communication and collaboration
