Start in 2026 SpringMoulton Niguel Water District is dedicated to engaging and empowering future water professionals through their Future Leaders of Water Initiative. The Operations Intern will assist the Operations Administration team, gaining hands-on experience in water use management and field operations while monitoring and assessing irrigation systems at District owned sites.

Responsibilities
Monitor water use at Moulton Niguel Water District (MNWD) owned sites
Make recommendations for conservation
Assess irrigation systems at District owned sites
Direct work orders to landscape contractors
Qualification
Required
Undergraduate student attending an accredited community college or university in good standing
Study emphasis in Water Utility Science, Water Technology, Engineering, Public Administration, Plant Science, Horticulture, General Landscape Design, Water Conservation or a closely related field
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Comprehensive computer skills
Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl when out in the field
Must be able to work in an environment that could produce exposure to dust, dirt, significant temperature changes, and inclement weather
Must be able to communicate orally with District staff in face-to-face, one-on-one settings
Must be able to stand and walk for extended time periods
Must have hearing, vision, and eye-hand coordination sufficient to maintain good awareness when performing field work
Must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 25 pounds
Benefits
Earn up to twenty-four (24) hours of paid sick leave per year
Accrued at the rate of one (1) hour for every thirty (30) hours worked
Permitted to use paid sick leave beginning on the 90th day of employment
Permitted to carry over paid sick leave to the following year of employment, up to a maximum of forty-eight (48) hours of sick leave
The District and the employee each contribute the 6.2% Social Security and 1.45% Medicare mandatory contributions.
